A Day to Remember: Our End-of-Year Party in Manor Park
We brought our online and onsite students together at our Church Road centre in Manor Park for an end-of-year celebration — food, gifts, laughter, and a community that felt like family.
There is a particular kind of joy in seeing a room full of children you have watched grow all year — laughing, playing, and meeting friends they had only ever known through a screen. Yesterday, that room was ours.
We threw a party at our Church Road centre in Manor Park to celebrate a wonderful year of learning, and we invited everyone: the children who come to us in person for Madrasah and Arabic classes, and the students who study with us live online from across the country. For one afternoon, the screens were switched off and the doors were open. Online and onsite, near and far — everyone was simply together.
One community, finally in one room
So much of what we do happens across distance. A child in another city logs in for their GCSE Arabic lesson. A family down the road drops their little one for afternoon Madrasah. They are all part of the same Taalam family, but they rarely share the same space.
Yesterday they did. Students who had only met as names on a register were suddenly sharing a plate of food and a game in the garden. Parents who had only spoken to us over WhatsApp got to put faces to names. It was, quite simply, the community made visible.
Food, gifts, and a lot of happy children
We wanted the day to feel generous, because that is how we feel about our families. There was plenty of food, a gift for every child, and the kind of cheerful chaos that only a big group of children can create — even in the summer heat.
The gifts were small, but the intention behind them was not. Every child who walked out with one walked out knowing their teachers had been thinking of them.
In our parents’ words
The messages that came in afterwards meant the world to us. With their permission, here is a little of what families shared:
Jazak’Allah khair for hosting such a lovely end-of-year party. You went above and beyond and we’re all truly so grateful. The kids loved it, alhamdulillah — and so did I.
Mashallah, such an amazing effort from you and the other organisers. Everything was amazing. We all enjoyed today.
You all went above and beyond in your generosity with the lovely food and gifts. May Allah continue to make Taalam a success, ameen.
Jazakillah khayr for organising these get-togethers for the children. You are wonderful teachers and you really motivate the children to love their Arabic.
That last line is the one we will carry with us. Because that is the whole point.
Why a party matters
It would be easy to think a celebration is just a nice extra. It is not. When a child associates their Arabic and their deen with warmth, friendship, and belonging, they do not just learn — they want to come back. They look forward to it. Motivation that comes from love lasts far longer than motivation that comes from pressure.
Days like yesterday are how we build that. They turn a timetable into a community, and a subject into something a child is proud to be part of.
Thank you, from all of us
To every family who came, who travelled, who messaged afterwards, and who trusts us with their children week after week — thank you. You make Taalam what it is.
We still have a few wonderful weeks of classes to enjoy before the summer break — and we’re already taking enrolments for September, with places for both onsite Madrasah and Arabic in Manor Park and live online Arabic, GCSE and A-Level tuition. If you would like your child to be part of our community, get in touch or book a free trial — we would love to welcome them.
From all of us at Taalam Learning Centre.
